Judge Briana Zamora graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from New Mexico State University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of New Mexico, School of Law.

Judge Briana Zamora is running for the New Mexico Court of Appeals because she understands the human impact that judicial rulings have for all New Mexicans across our great state.  Judge Zamora has presided in over 20,000 cases and nearly 150 jury trials on criminal charges ranging from misdemeanor DWI to first degree murder.  Her experience is unmatched. For nearly a decade, she has listened to victims who have suffered through violent crime experiences. She has heard from survivors of domestic violence, families of deceased victims and individuals plagued by homelessness and addiction. Judge Zamora was honored to be recommended by a bipartisan judicial nominating commission for the New Mexico Court of Appeals.


Judge Zamora began her judicial career when she was appointed to the Metropolitan Court bench in 2008. Currently, she is a Bernalillo County District Court Judge after being elected in 2012.


Born and raised in New Mexico, Judge Zamora and her husband are now raising two daughters in Albuquerque.  She is committed to improving our community through her continued public service and dedication to our justice system. This commitment is particularly shown when she presides over specialty courts such as the Homeless Court and the Native American Healing to Wellness drug court.


As an attorney, Zamora litigated both criminal and civil cases. She worked as an Assistant Attorney General and represented abused and neglected children as their guardian ad litem. She is a graduate of New Mexico State University and UNM School of Law.
